I see a lot of people joining the forum, but they never post and I can't figure out why?
I usually try and send a welcome pm to all the new members, but rarely get a response back and mostly my pms to them just sit in the outbox of my pm box.

I really want to try and revamp and liven this place, so I'm all for any ideas?

My opinion is that if charms and gents are more consistent with their chatting, there is a schedule when fans can see when the charms and gents are going to be on, it might rekindle this aspect of the site. Right now its hit or miss, its if you get lucky, whereas if there was a schedule and the charms and gents stuck to the schedule, fans would know when to log in to chat with their favorites. The other issue to is that, some times there are like a bunch of people in chatting with one charm and she can't handle all the different questions and people feel as though they are being ignored. I think that if there was a moderator to kind of help keep conversations going or remove the people causing trouble or just to be around, that would help with the live chats.

For the fan box itself, I just again think more action from the charms and gents might help. I personally think that consistency is key and if you have a large number posting and replying, it won't take a lot of time for any one. Just my comments!!!

This one is a little tricky. I think what it comes down to, in my opinion, is what kind of time the Charm or Gent has to chat. Perhaps a poll needs to be sent out to all charms & gents to see if they would actually like to participate in these chats. It all comes down to that willingness to participate.

From a charm's perspective..........

I used to participate in the chat several times a week. But sometimes it does get a little hectic. If there are several fans pm'ing me, and posting in the chat, I do find it hard to keep up. And I'm so worried that I'm going to miss a post and make someone feel like they are being ignored.

So for me, if I'm in the chat, I prefer to not have to answer pms during that time. I mean I will answer them, but after the chat is done, if that makes sense?

I just never figured out how to put forth that aspect of it when I was chatting.

As for a moderator in the chat? I''m not sure what they could do. Unless someone was getting vulgar or rude? Which I've never seen myself, but admittedly I haven't participated in chat for quite awhile.

I know sometimes people want a private type chat with a specific charm and that's fine, but when the conversation is going and there's a charm talking with several people in chat, Maybe make a time for later for that?
Just my opinion.

We just need to get the word out and let more CHARMS/GENTS know that their presence is wanted here

Life always seems to get in the way and little by little there never seemed to be the time to chat for any length of time. I chatted with some great fans & members over the years and if life starts to give me more time to chat then I will try and get online more often.

When I first became a charm I used to use the old chat page , I used to be on it just about every night ! , had a lot of fun and met some great friends.

Nobody seems to bother with that old chat page anymore since they introduced the fan page chat.

One of the problems with the fan page is that fans don't respond themselves ! Charms will post stuff ; update previews , requests for ideas for shoots etc and receive no fan response , ok , not everybody likes the same charms but a little thank you or something just for taking the time to post would help.

Another thing I feel is that the actual mini chat window on the main fan box page is in the wrong place , it should be at the top rather than the bottom so that when you come to the main page you can see that people are online and chatting.

Anyway just a few thoughts xxx

I used old chat very often, there was an update then I could no longer load the page. The chat here isn't as good but the PM is better.

Sarah, Good points, especially about the chat being at the top, but I think we're stuck with this design.

I'm hoping that if we can get more charms to participate here, then more fans will participate???

There is not much I can do, as the forum moderator, to liven this place up. I have tried a few things to try to boost activity and help build a cohesive community. I was posting daily birthday announcements in the Charm Corner and linking to them in the mini chat, as well as PMing the Charms in question, letting them know about the announcement. I did this for about a week, and never had a single bit of engagement, from Charms OR fans, so I stopped as I felt like it was making me look like a Spam Bot.

If this is something that interests the fans and Charms alike, to the point that there is community contribution, I would be more than happy to restart the daily birthday announcements

Maybe I could start up the "Charm of the Year" awards again, that seemed to provide a good bit of engagement the last time I did it.

Hey Gman, maybe not just a charm of the year or a gent of the year, but fans of the year. Allow fans to win something for participating and engaging the Charms. Honor some of the fans that have been around for decades, even those that don't use the boards. If this is supposed to be a family atmosphere, allow the love to roll both ways. Just one man's opinion!!!

I agree with this until the end. I do NOT agree that there should be awards for people who do not actively participate in the boards, as the whole purpose of this brainstorming session is to INCREASE traffic and participation in the forum.

I have to agree with you Tuesdays Romeo...I sometimes wonder if there are so many members of this forum, who never use it.....because when it started they thought it may be filled with free hardcore porn? Like a lot of forums on the web........and when they registered and discovered it's not, they just don't come back.

But Loke, I do agree that there could be some type of fan awards..........
I would be willing to offer free month membership into a prize box if we can figure out how to create this reward thing
