State of Porn in the UK

Postby VixenSC2 » Fri Oct 05, 2018 10:50 am

Hi all, as we all love porn here and some of us make it and the rest of us enjoy watching it I thought I would give my views on what's happening in porn in the UK. I was not sure where to post this one but its getting warmer here for the porn industry and factor 50 isn't going to be enough!

As anyone paying attention may already know the UK government have been bringing in all orts of new Porn laws, or rather rules to prevent people to make or view porn in the UK. So far, back in 2014 (Audiovisual Media Services Regulations 2014) the department that deals with film classification was put in charge of porn videos online and live streaming. Luckily the BBFC simply took a look at the size of the internet and put the kettle on and carried on watching the new nail biter on Netflix.

Still not happy the UK government went on in early 2016 to ban all sorts of things from been seen such as spanking, bondage etc.. This came into law in a lack lustre sort of way and no one appears to have paid attention. This is now followed in early 2018 by the UK Gov. making it illegal to view porn without age verification, so you need a credit card (and photo id in some cases) to view a porn site. Any porn site that permits people viewing porn without proof of age getting a £250,000 fine! ($350,000) This came into law in April of this year. Obviously nothing actually happened because our leaders did not know who should be implementing this law, although they are still working on putting control of this under the culture minister or the department who are there to watch the interment, the aptly named Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Again, with nothing actually happening so far.

The new laws coming into effect in (I believe January) will require every UK citizen having a licence to view porn, and internet providers will have to use this licence to permit access to porn. They also want everyone who pays for a Licence to be placed on a register of porn viewer's. Oh what fun we will have.

So to sum things up, anything other than full nudity and sex in missionary position is illegal to be made in the UK, and quite soon every citizen will be monitored by the police when they view porn. As you may have figured out a pattern by now nothing has actually happened. Put simply a UK charm publishing on SC is covered under American publication rules, so effectively the government would have to prove the UK charm is not filming/published in America. Not that this makes any difference because there isn't anyone actually enforcing these rules. Or indeed a court that could prosecute them. As for a Porn licence, service providers would rather pull out of the UK rather than bother with it. In fact two service providers have already threatened to block the EU and UK over the recent laws passed over here which I am not going into on here.

My final thoughts, I don't know what is going to happen, I do not think anything will happen legally, as the police in the UK just today said they would no longer be investigating burglaries so I don't think they have the manpower or money (or even care) to try and enforce these laws, likewise the departments dealing with this are under staffed (when they actually exist). The idea that anyone would buy a licence is nuts. It will be interesting to see how these things pan out, what are your views? :YMHUG:

As an ex-pat I have always kept an interest in developments in the Old Country. I have to say the last few years have been depressing to watch for various reasons. There's a lot of disproportionate attention directed at things of little consequence or importance and the things that really require attention are neglected or glossed over. This is just another example of a high visibility, low effort, low resource "solution" to a problem that doesn't exist. Just another bullet point for somebody to puff up their political CV. The hard problems which need attention ... well, that requires the sort of gumption and sense of public service that has long since died from the reality TV-style self-glossing politicians which we are stuck with today.

So basically you can't watch somebody being whipped or spanked or chained or peed on ... unless you are an MP. In which case you can not only view it on your work PC but you can also put it on your expense account.

I always found it interesting reading about the collapse of past civilisations, but it not as fun living in it.

That's absolutely ridiculous!

Admittedly I'm not a follower of the many laws and regulations here in the states. Even though I'm naturally a follow the rules type person, goody two shoes should be my nickname.

However, with that said, I do live in the "Bible Belt" of the US.

Informally, the Bible Belt is a region in the southeastern and south-central United States in which socially conservative evangelical Protestantism plays a strong role in society and politics, and Christian church attendance across the denominations is generally higher than the nation's average. The Bible Belt consists of much of the Southern United States as well as parts of adjacent areas.

I'm not familiar with any issues ie: porn and the Bible Belt, although I'm sure there are such things. But one annoying thing resulting from it is that you can't buy beer until Sunday after noon here. I'm not a beer drinker, but I do buy it for my husband. It's funny to be in the store and see people standing around looking at their watches waiting for the clock to strike 12:01 pm :d

This is the one reason why the first amendment in the US is such a huge benefit. Honestly if you don't like it, don't watch it... that's what I did with the NFL last year... but that's a whole other story. I hope calmer heads prevail!

Speaking from the UK, you guys have the 1st amendment, fight tooth and nail for it, we never had it in law, and we are paying for it now.

as an addition, they took away the right to carry arm's in 1997, it only took 9 years to take away our free speech (Public Order Act 1986 Part 3A 2006) :-(
