Got My Covid Shot today

So I got my covid vaccination today. I have to admit I was nervous. It's just the first shot, I have to go back in 28 days and get the second one.
They made me stay awhile after because I have so many allergies. But I was ok, and only have a sore arm from the vaccination. I do feel extremely tired today, but that could be because I stressed all night about getting the vaccination
Anyone else got the vaccination yet?

hmmmm, no one else got it yet?
Well update on day two:
Arm still sore. Worse than the flu shot arm soreness. And for a few hours today I had a mild allergic reaction on my skin at the injection site. Rash and itching and warm to the touch, but it actually went away on it's own without me having to take benadryl or use cortaid creme.

I have some questions....I am eligible to get it being diabetic and having a disecected and repaired aorta. I decided to wait until my grand daughters can get them. They are keen on not wanting me to catch it, but I worry if I get the vaccine would that cause them to take their guard down a bit and not be so careful. I checked into it and was told they have to wait, probably at least a month or two. I talked with them and they were agreeable to that. When i checked it online this line caused concern. "Due to the number of individuals now qualifying for Phase 1A of the state’s vaccination plan, non-healthcare workers will be assessed an administrative fee for vaccination." Well there goes the idea of it being free.
I want to ask if you had it in a clinic setting, doctor's office, or hospital. They are going to open up shots in local small pharmacies next month if the doses of vaccine increase. Do you know which version of the vaccine you received? How long did they require you to stay after the shot? An EMT we know was given the first dose, and waited a couple hours and within minutes of leaving went into anaphylactic shock but got a shot and was fine. she was one of 21 who had severe reactions in the first weeks of the vaccine.
Glad you got yours....and hopefully this will help keep you safer.....

I got the Moderna shot. In a Walmart Pharmacy here in Texas. I qualify as I'm 1B, younger than 65 but with preexisting conditions. I had to have my insurance card, not to pay for the vaccine itself, but they did charge my insurance for the administration fee (paying the pharmacy to inject me)
The normal time to wait after the shot is 15 minutes, however I had to stay about an hour. I have alot of allergy issues. And I had ITP as a child.
Nothing has happened to me so far. The shot hurt like hell when they injected it. And my arm was very sore for two days, much better today. But OMG I was so tired the first two days. Really tired. And yesterday I had a few hours where I had some itching, redness and warmness on my arm where the injection went, but it disappeared by itself really quick.

thank you for the answers to my queries, and explaining what the admin. fee is for. I think if I had a choice of which vaccine I would go with the Moderna. If only to say i got the Dolly Parton vaccine inside me. Please take care, get your rest and again thank you...for your generous answers.

I cant wait to get my Covid Jab. It will probably be April time for me as they are working down the age groups and most vunerable in the UK. We are on lockdown again here and im fed up living like a hermit. Yesterday the news reported they had vaccinated 10 million people in the uk which is a large percentage of the over 75 age group, care home residents and most vunerable.

So I got my second moderna covid shot today. It was a day late due to the storm's last week in Texas.
This one didn't hurt and I got it 6 1/2 hours ago. So far I'm not feeling icky or feverish, my arm's not sore and the only thing I feel is really exhausted. We'll see what the night brings. I'm just happy to have gotten both shots and feel extremely lucky to have gotten them so quickly.

Woohoo that is great news Serena!
You must feel so relieved knowing you are so much better protected now and they seem to be saying the jabs reduce the spread as well.
To think, in a few weeks (If only we weren't separated by different continents) I could pop round for a cuppa and be perfectly safe!! lol

My daughter got it because she was eligible to receive it the rest of the family not yet. Her arm was sore and it seemed she really couldn't move it or had a hindered range of motion for like a day or two. No other side effects of it. Her second shot is in a few days.

Well the second shot kinda kicked me in the butt for two days. I didn't get sick or feverish, but OMG the fatigue and weakness was undescribable. My arm is still a little sore today, 4 days later. I was so exhausted for two days, my arms and legs felt like bricks. It was all I could do to get up and move around. But I did manage to be up and about as I was babysitting my grandson those two days. He was a sweetheart though, and didn't make grandma get down on the floor and play legos or hotwheels for those two days with him
I'm so relieved to have gotten the shots. I have so many people depending on me, I just can't get sick.

That is great news!! We are having a slow roll out here in Canada due to delays in manufacturing Pfizer and Moderna in Belgium. We are just getting most of our seniors done here now and it's March! I probably won't be able to get mine until June, being 50. Hope all is well since!

Wife and I got our second Pfizer shots this past Tuesday. She had no effects from it at all, and I had the same sore arm feeling like I had with the first shot. They both pretty much felt like the flu shot, which we got back in September of last year. We both are considered high risk, so even after the two weeks of waiting, we won't be going maskless anywhere or stopping our social distance practices any time soon (there are way too many idiots in my part of Florida that are still unclear on the concept).

Same here. I still wear my mask(s), yes two masks. Even though I was considered "fully vaccinated" on the 9th of March. My husband hasn't yet been vaccinated, neither has my 19 year old granddaughter, and my younger grandson.
I'm not going to be changing how I do things anytime soon. I have no interest in dining inside restaurants and I don't mind grocery pick up/delivery in place of going into stores. I really think this year of social distancing has changed things for along time to come. Texas no longer has a mask mandate......and I worry that this crap will come back strong like before because people will let down their guard.

One interesting thing I've noticed: I know people who were totally against getting the vaccination, for various reasons. And recently a couple of them changed their minds and have decided to get the shots. I hope this trend continues and that most will get the shots. Maybe we can defeat covid in the near future and get on with our lives.

Glad you got your shots in. A role model for the rest of us here on the Forum. I too have noticed some who claimed they would not, have in effect changed their minds and have or will get their vaccines. I can get mine, but am waiting a little bit, wanted to wait till the girls could get their's but they tell me that is just silly.
Our biggest hospital here in our area got got giving doses to friends and family of employees who did not qualify, so that whole program had shut for a couple weeks. Some people are holding out, one couple twice changed their minds when told they could not person request and receive the Moderna or "Dolly Parton" vaccine. Some others are delaying hoping for the "one" shot type, and some on the hopes of a pill variety of vaccine which is said to be in the works.
Sadly what is not know, is if like the regular flu, will vaccinations be needed yearly? As the virus mutates and alters in composition this seems almost dead certain to be the case. Troubling news came out of Oregon this week. The British variant ( B.1.1.7) of the Covid-19 has spread across much of the US. Oregon has seen much of it, but while it has the same backbone structure, but in part has mutated a bit ( E484K) and is starting to show resistance to the vaccines currently being tested on it. Which is a nightmare scenario just waiting to happen.

Had my first shot last week, all went well and my next one in May... lets hope this will give us a bit of normality back to our lives.

Was able to get my covid vaccine at the beginning of April - no side effects for me. Was very happy to be able to get it done so that I could travel and see some friends and family hopefully this summer!!
