No, I've had them about ten years....they are actually designed by a friend of mine, the Asian shoe designer Mary Ching. She used to have an atelier near the office of the company I once worked for in Shanghai so we became friends there.

I normally don't like platform heels but these are quite nice, they are dark purple velvet with that cute zipper in the back that you noticed.
