Anybody ever had any problems with data security?

About this same time of the year in 2011, I had my debit card information compromised and about $800 stolen from my bank account. Fortunately, my bank was right on top of it and we were able to recover most of the money. The bank said it followed the pattern of an online theft. I suspected SC"s billing company Epoch because at the time they were the only online company I had recently done business with that I had not done business with in the past. Not necessarily dishonesty on their part, but perhaps someone was able to hack into their database of stored account information?

This is part of the reason why I have not joined any Charm's site, or downloaded any more SC videos since then. If I were to do so, I would of course re-join Wendy Watkins first, and then I might have to join Innes... :)

So my question is, has anyone ever had any problems with financial data security possibly connected to SC, particularly in the timeframe of roughly one year ago?

I've been subscribing to SC sites regularly since 2006, and have not been the victim of any fraudulent use of my details whatsoever.
I have found Epoch to be one of the more reliable payment firms, and am happy to join any site where they are the processor.

Nice to meet another fan :) xx

I haven't heard of any security/financial problems with SC in the time that I've been here (since December 2010).

You can also join with a money order if you are concerned about using a debit/credit card: http://www.southern-charms.com/mo.html

It's actually more likely that your card was compromised by a restaurant or some other business like that. So many restaurants take your card from you at the table, go to their registers where you can't see them to process it. All they have to do is ask to see your ID to verify it's you and there they have everything they need to know to use your card.

There are many other ways for people to steal your CC info of course, but this is the most common. The odds of it happening on SC via Epoch are pretty low...all the info is encrypted and secured by SSL certificates.

To help avoid the info being stolen while on the web, make sure any site you enter your CC info in to directly is HTTPS:// rather than HTTP:// the "S" means it's secure/encrypted.
