Christmas Trees....

I thought I would ask the charms and fans.... how many Christmas or Holiday trees they put up? My granddaughters and I just put up our 11th tree today. I am guardian for two lovely girls, while their mother is overseas studying the effects of global warming.. They call me grand dad or pops...Their mother asked me to be their guardian until 2022, rather than her own scatterbrained mother... who I dated for several years...
Well we have our main 12 ft tree, and the Christmas Wishes Tree in the bay window. Each girl desired their own tree this year...so one has a pink tree, and the other a purple that are 3 ft. They each have a cat and decided each cat needed a tree as well...So tiny 1 ft trees where they lay treats each morning for the felines. We have two large trees outside that get decorated. Then last year we put up white lights on two Japanese Cranberry trees, filled with suet and things birdies like. Which also attracts squirrels and chipmunks. So today we put up our 11th tree for the squirrels. Since I have been homeschooling them... this was part of their science and nature studies...or so they told me.
In 2001 I lost someone who I consider the love of my life. She had this 3-4ft tree that even then had seen better days. Every year since I light it on Christmas Eve and a single white or red candle, in belief that our loved ones can and do return to visit us on that magical night. The girls call it a Christmas Wish Tree, so we now each make a list of people special to us and a wish for them, and place it under the tree. I wrote this little piece and always place it on the tree....On Christmas Eve.
Brush the floor and clean the hearth,
And set the fire to keep,
For they might visit us tonight
When all the world's asleep.
Don't blow the tall white candle out
But leave it burning bright,
So that they'll know they're welcome here
This holy Christmas night.
Leave the door upon the latch,
And set the fire to keep,
And pray they'll rest with us tonight
When all the world's asleep.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas... one that is filled with love, happiness and merriment.
