Picard... because I grew up during TNG era. Kirk was before my time, though I wouldn't mind going back and watching the original series now :ugeek:

Lace, that is totally understandable!

Hope you get a chance to catch some TOS episodes! I think they have them online, plus they are on an open air digital channel, Me-TV, on Saturday nights, if you have that in your area. What I like about the episodes they are airing on Me-TV is that they are digitally remastered, with updated effects shots, which I didn't think I'd like at first, but they have grown on me.

I like TNG, and actually, overall it's a better series. The best of TOS is better, but there are fewer of them, and it was only on 3 years, and the last year wasn't very good. But aside from FIRST CONTACT, I love the TOS movies best, though the last one was very good (but it's kinda sorta a TOS movie too).

Yeah, I'm a Trekkie, Trekker, whatever you wanna call it. :)

Picard for having more range and not being as perfect at everything.
Kirk for doing pause acting that makes you laugh. (did you know squirrels learned this from him? Watch next time a squirrel runs into the road by cars and tell me it's not true)
TOS for being incrediably original for it's time period.
TNG for better stories.
DS9 I never liked
Voyager for taking it even further when not much was left to work with.

I'm a Trekkie, too old to be changing it to Trekker now :)

Gotta love it, Xandusk!

Those pauses are vintage Shat.

Going beyond the two captains for a moment. I think in all of ST though there is no character like Spock, and despite how well the actor did in ST 9, there is no one like Nimoy's characterization.

@ Eva, I like the first trilogy best, but the second...ugh.

@ Red Stripe, thank you, and yes, Enterprise was a cool show! And Dr. Who? The best!

Episodes 4, 5 and 6 were great. 1, 2 and 3 were just not truly worthy. I cringe to think what the next 3 releases may be like.

But since we are talking Science Fiction...Doctor Who is my Favorite of all....I have watched that since I was 13...Love the Old...and The New....its all good!

I didn't forget Enterprise, I chose to ignore it. Scott Bakula will always be Sam Beckett to me (Quantum Leap all the way).
I like the original Dr. Who. Not so much the recent series.
I loved Farscape too if we're going into other Sci-Fi ;)
And who could forgt Firefly and Serenity?

I agree, about the original trilogy. The newer ones...ugh. Is there going to be another set?

10. One Word: Hair!
9. Kirk would personally throw Wesley off the bridge
8. Kirk would never sing to children in a crisis
7. Kirk wasn't shy about taking his shirt off
6.Kirk can beat a Klingon one-handed
5.Three Words: Flying Leg Kick
4.Kirk doesn't let the doctor tell him what to do
3.If Kirk finds a strange spinning probe, he blows it up
2. Kirk never drinks tea, ever
1. Kirk can beat a Vulcan at chess

That is GREAT!!! :)

Not sure if it's true or just a rumour. Best info I found on it was on Wikipedia:
The sequel trilogy was a reportedly planned trilogy of films (Episodes VII, VIII and IX) by Lucasfilm as a sequel to the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI) released between 1977 and 1983.[54] While the similarly discussed Star Wars prequel trilogy (Episodes I, II and III) was ultimately released between 1999 and 2005, Lucasfilm and George Lucas have for many years denied plans of making a sequel trilogy, insisting that Star Wars is meant to be a six-part series.[55][56] In May 2008, speaking about the upcoming Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Lucas maintained his status on the sequel trilogy:

"I get asked all the time, 'What happens after Return of the Jedi?,' and there really is no answer for that. The movies were the story of Anakin Skywalker and Luke Skywalker, and when Luke saves the galaxy and redeems his father, that's where that story ends."[57]
In 2012, Lucas announced that he would step away from blockbuster films and instead produce smaller art-house films. In an interview regarding whether or not the scrutiny he received from the prequel trilogy and the alterations made on the original films, were a factor on his retirement, Lucas stated:

"Why would I make any more,... when everybody yells at you all the time and says what a terrible person you are?"[58]

But some fan spaces still have rumours it's in the works. Not sure if it's just wishful thinking though.

Kirk - HANDS DOWN

I had more adolescent wet dreams about being on the bridge with that man than you can imagine. I always pretended I was the sexy blonde Yeoman Janice Rand. ;)

I love Dr. Who! I started watching when the Dr. was Christopher Eccleston and have been watching ever since! I've now gone back to watch all the original episodes from the first Dr. on through, though my favorite so far was David Tennent.

I like all the Doctor's, though I didn't especially like Colin Baker's episodes too much. I really like Matt Smith but it's fun finding the old shows with Tom Baker and his 18 foot scarf!

...other than Dr. Who I'd say I'd take Kirk because Sheldon from The Big BangTheory seems to go more toward the Leonard Nemoy era

I like all of them equally, except Archer. I think each character had their strengths and weaknesses, so to say one is better than the other is really impossible. Archer is the exception, because that whole story line was fucked and didn't fit the original story line...Pike was the first Capt of the Enterprise, Kirk took it over from him. Where the hell did Archer come from? Plus Scott Bakula is just a bad actor...never liked anything he was in.

Now as for Star Wars, I get so sick of people saying they are fans, then blasting EP 1, 2 and 3. Those movies were great for what they were. People screamed for the prequels for years, so Lucas gave them to us...JarJar Binks was hilarious, just like C3PO was in the originals...he was the comedy.

There was no way Lucas could produce a Star Wars movie and have it be as amazing as the original, no matter what. WHY? Because Star Wars was SOOO incredible for the year it was made, they invented so many things that didn't exist prior to that movie...look at other movies that came out in the same time frame and the special fx are not comparable, Buck Rogers, Star Trek the Movie, Superman, Close Encounters, Battle Star Galactica...NONE can compare to Star Wars.

Likewise, when he created the new trilogy, he did something no one else had done, created characters that were completely CGI and they even wrote new FX software in order to create some of the set that was impossible to create with what existed at the time...so once again Lucas advanced the film industry by having his team come up with new ways to make movies.

When you look at all 6 movies they give you a complete story, in fact several complete stories. There will always be critics, but in my opinion, a true fan will like all of the movies, as well as the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network, where they just brought back Darth Maul!
