Had a great mom...she taught us not to make resolutions for the new year, but rather strive to be better at something, anything in the new year. Learn new things, experience or do new things, and most of all to strive a better person in some way when the current year rings out than when it came in. I cannot say I have always done that....but the last 5 years I have been able to do so.... In that way you have the whole year 365 days to judge how you did, just start strong on some unrealistic goal and then fail by the middle of winter....

thats great!
i dont do them really either, but some peeps always do

my mom started a hungarian thing.
on the eve you take a glass of water, and drop an egg white in it
then the next day
you read it and see what lies ahead

i come from a long line of seers
i used to do that full time and with 99% accuracy
but back to
the water, its really interesting

i just wish to work more and watch less tv and shows all night

New Year resolutions are just a fun thing to make, not necessarily getting too serious into them.
I rely more on weekly resolutions - more at hand :)

And the egg white in water, this a Hungarian thing? Hearing first time about it. :X

I am not for resolutions at the beginning of the year...just to be a better person as I mentioned. I have some I know that get bogged down with making and breaking them, then are upset with themselves by the middle of January. Have a lovely friend who every year makes a resolution not to go straight during the year. He is in his own words, "the biggest flaming Queen south of Queens", (though he grew up in Brooklyn), so there is little chance of that....

As for the egg in water... As a teen I knew a woman and she would often recommend to people that to cleanse their body, mind, spirit and soul. One had to in candlelight, rub an egg over their body from head to toe, while reciting The Lord's Prayer ( if I remember correctly) and then breaking the egg into a glass of water and letting it settle and then reading it the next day. She was from the Baltic area ... married a US solider and moved here back in the 60's.

I hope to not have to work at all...and watch more great telly...
