I get your point, but implying that content theft (reposting) is behind every "bulk" download of content is not really fair since if that was the case, who would ever sign up for
6 months of membership? My point was that when joining a models site, there could be 10K to 50K photo's, and I doubt many people (males) want to download pictures for viewing one by one. Perhaps zip files of sets with an additional security step (Captcha) to protect against bots.

I totally understand where you're coming from and no, it's not fair at all. But you know the saying?

A few bad apples spoils the whole basket........
or something like that. :-(

Additionally, I applaud the honest fans and members, like you for supporting your favorite models.

On my part, after joining more that 50 of the charms sites over the years, I hardly look at stealing content...especially when I prefer to be IN the content if possible :)
I do understand the idea of it, tho it was only 4-5 pictures from each set that was available in free previews from past issues. I personally used some of those in review when deciding which was the next charm I was going to join. So anyway, I guess I won't be able to do that anymore. Whatever the decision is, I'll abide as I always have but it does narrow down choices seeing as I can't review the archive previews if I think I saw a set awhile back that I'd like to see the drift of.
Oh well

My issue with Southern Charms is with retired Charms.

For instance there was popular model Crystal Bottoms who was one of the original Charms that made this site popular.

After she retired her page was closed and the only way to see her stuff was to go to porn forums, blogs or torrent sites.

But when her stuff is uploaded there, it gets deleted. Her old stuff is still out there on the Net, but you have to hunt it down like you looking for alien life on Mars.

Today, she is arguably one of the most popular and most seeked retired charm out there. She has been retired for about 10 years now. I kick myself in the ass for not paying the membership when she was active and collecting her stuff when she was active.

You cannot find her stuff on Southern Charms, if it's here I have not found it.

What I have is stuff I have gathered from other sites. I still do not have her full collection. I think I have only half of her picture sets, but I'm still on the hunt.

Why should that cause you to have issue with SC?

When a charm retires and her site is closed on SC, it's because the model has requested it. The content belongs to HER, and is licensed to SC. SC is the legal authorized agent for the charm. And acts on BEHALF of the charm's requests. So yes, the content that is ILLEGALLY uploaded to other sites is copyright infringement and is usually removed by the SC DMCA Legal team. Again, this is PER the charm's request.

I guess the moral of the story is: If you adore a charm and want to collect her content, then do it now. Cuz you never know when that charm will retire and her site will close. ;)

I agree and I understand the copywrite issue.

But then what happens when Southern Charms for whatever reason shuts down? It's not a question that can be answered and just opens up to other questions.

Whatever material out there that gets uploaded becomes a free for all if SC shuts down.

Right now, nobody on SC or the models know who actually has access to their content or how much content is saved and how many folks actually have access to their page. You can't determine it by paying membership with folks out here knowing how to hack websites with the new trend of people learning how to write code.

Also, you have to remember we are accessing the Internet in the USA. The internet we are using in America is not the same that is being accessed thru-out the world.

A lot of stuff on Southern Charms can be found on other Web services around the world if you know where to look and where SC legal team has no jurisdiction and copywriter laws don't apply.

It's a odd situation when you dealing with the internet, unfortunately technology is moving faster than the law can keep up.

I made my point no need to drag this out to a long merry go round debate.

Unfortunatly you are mistaken.

If SC were to ever shut down, then the model herself would have the task of sending the DMCA's herself, or she has the option of hiring a company to do it for her. There are plenty out there that offer this service.

This would not make the content, free for all. As I stated earlier, the model herself is the copyright owner. She retains lifetime ownership of all content, unless she signs it away in a written agreement. Additionally, There are ways to track the photos to find where they are posted, even if those photos have their file names changed.
And, most places in other countries that have copyright infringed files uploaded to them are more than willing to remove those files and to ban the uploader of those files.
On the rare occasions that a webplace doesn't want to assist, then their ISP can be contacted and they can be reported.

Another option is to track down the POSTER's ISP.

I'm not trying to debate you at all, but as a model who is affected by the reposting of my content, I do feel it is necessary to refute the common misconceptions that many believe concerning reposting of charm content.

For those complaining that they can't get an idea of what older sets contained because the loophole of looking at archived preview pictures has been corrected, note that thumbnail sizes will be LARGER from here on out and it is much easier to see what's going on in a photo set. Any good charm knows that the leading photo for a photo set has to show what the set is about. I already have 9 updates with the bigger thumbnails on my site and I think it is very easy to see what the photo sets feature. I think they look great, and I would HOPE that someone would see one they would like to see more of and then click the join button to see those photos.

bigger thumbnails IL.JPG

I also have A LOT of updates, and my quality of production has increased tremendously since I began in 2006 (over 1700 updates ago)! I would much rather a prospective buyer judge me on my most recent work than my older stuff. Judge my site on the quality that I put out NOW.

On a different note, I am LOVING the new slideshow feature! Have you seen it? You can test it on the preview photos on my site now. I would love to know what you guys think about it!

xoxo,
Lace

The slideshow is a great idea, saves a lot of time from having to click on every photo individually. But it only appears to be available on your site at the moment. I hope it becomes the norm across SC.

It is only on a few sites right now for testing, but if all goes well will roll out on all the Charm sites soon. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Personally I'm not a big fan of the slide show... I can see how on a smart phone it would be good, but on a desktop, the old way seems to be better... just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback. Could you expand on that please? Why, or what specifically about it don't you like?

Lace-

When I'm on my desktop with a mouse, etc, it's easier to click back and forth, and if I want to jump from say image 3 in a set to image 6, it's easier to do so by going back to the set's page, rather than through photos 4 and 5... it's much more so when there are lots of photos in a given set. Does that help you out at all Lace?

The slideshow doesn't stop you from being able to go back and forth between photos and the photo page. You can still click on the photo you want without having to go through the complete slideshow.

Adam,
If you prefer to view the photos individually, here's how you do it:

On the photo page, specific update issue:

You'll see the thumbs for that issue. Right click on the pic you want to open and enlarge, and select "open in new window". That will open just that photo and you can make it the large size. The photo page with the thumbs is still open underneath, so when you are done with that pic, close the window and repeat the process for the next photo you would like to view.
Hope this helps?

The only thing that's changed is the ADDITIONAL of the option for photo slideshow and the double click has been given to the slideshow function.
However, the individual viewing has not been taken away, just the access to use it has changed to the right click, open in new window function.

Serena, I didn't know that. I saw the photos opening smaller and I know many people like them large.
So when people ask me I know what to tell them. Good to know. Another option.

I had to figure it out too. I thought it was because I had windows 10 because I can't get the photos to enlarge IN the slideshow. So I played around and discovered that in windows 7 and windows 10 you can still get the photos to view individually and enlargen with the method I typed above ;)

Serena-

I have been doing that, but I end up with lots of windows open, and it takes a while longer to download pages constantly. You can't please everyone all the time, and I guess this isn't my time. I still do LOVE the girls on SC and LOVE getting to know them. It's a great site because of you ladies... Thanks for all you do!

Hi all and specially our beloved and always helping Serena (BTW, i rejoined ya last nite, always fantastic ;) ) :X

Please i really need your help because on "new" the front page now:
http://www.southern-charms.com/sc-main.html

My 2 favourite itens are now gone and i cannot find them anymore (or maybe i am doing anything wrong, i can also assume)

1) On the "text search" field wich i used for many many years, now when i write any word/phrase/text, instead of the usually tons and tons of results in the past, which helped me a alot to find a lot of nice things (and models too), right now only "a couple" of very very few few results appears, as if anything disappeared... :-\

2) Now this is the most important and above all the rest wich really are making me very sad.
I explain, on the old classic search options in the old site, we had a tool to choose the model by Age, Type of Body (BBW, Curvy, Slim), etc.
Yes, that really was very essential for me, and because of that i found, discovered and joined and spent lots of money with SC, because thkans to that cool search-option-tool, i truly knew/discovered a lot of fantastic models wich i did not know until then.

So, are you working on that search option once again, pleaseeee, or im i doing anything wrong and i cant find that specific Search-button..?

Tks in advance for your attention and always helping hand, Cheers, Hugs & Kisses;
Cassius :-)

The text search is still there, in the top left hand corner, you can search for a charm by name.... as for the "attribute" search... for lack of a better name... and yes, that sounds horribly misogynistic, please forgive me... I can't seem to find it.

But as I have said before, there are changes, some I'm going to like, some not so much, but overall, I have to admit SC is an awesome site, and after 20 years it's still my go to site... thanks to all the charms and all the system admin folks that keep this running!
